River Island.

With the appointment of their new CEO in September 2019, collectively the Executive Leadership Team knew that the development of their Leaders and Managers throughout the organisation was a key strategy for the growth aspirations of River Island.

Following a detailed procurement process, Revolve was selected as their partner of choice for Leadership and Management Development.

To create alignment and ensure that there was a cultural fit between our two organisations, we were first asked to develop 10 hand-picked colleagues from their Senior Leadership Team.

They would be the first to go through ‘The Emerging Leader’ programme, they would not only engage in the development itself but also throughout the process giving feedback on our content, approach, and the outputs the programme achieved.

As a team they set off on a 6-month development journey which consisted of:

  • Live virtual launch event

  • 1-2-1 coaching for all learners (before and after the learning modules)

  • Group coaching (before and after the learning modules)

  • 2 live virtual learning modules

  • 2 face-to-face learning modules

  • Personalised video-based learning

  • A team project which focused on the creation of their 12-month strategy which was presented back to the ELT at the end of their journey

  • 2 of the team continued on 1-2-1 coaching plans with their facilitator (outside of the original plan)

Having presented their strategy back to the ELT with great feedback and success, the team is now in their implantation phase.

As a result of this pilot, together we have now developed a strategy that sets out to develop the Leaders and Managers across the entire organisation.

Throughout 2022 and beyond we will partner with River Island to;

  • Develop their Leadership Behaviour Framework

  • Complete multiple Training Needs Analysis

  • Deliver ‘The Emerging Leader’ programme to other members of the SLT

  • Design and deliver a programme to their Middle Manager Population

  • Design and deliver a programme to their Junior Manager Population (this will include a Train the Trainer programme with the aim of taking this internally by 2023)
